Oilers 4, Flames 1: Rookie defenseman Justin Schultz recorded a goal and two assists in the first period and Devan Dubnyk stopped 33 shots as host Edmonton jumped out to an early lead en route to its fourth straight win.

Taylor Hall, Ryan Jones and rookie Nail Yakupov each scored and set up a goal for the Oilers, who moved within a point of St. Louis for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Edmonton, which defeated Vancouver 4-0 on Saturday, has scored seven goals in its last two opening periods.

Enforcer Brian McGrattan ended Dubnyk’s shutout streak at 138 minutes, 1 second when he scored with 1:32 remaining in the contest for Calgary, which has lost three of its last four. Miikka Kiprusoff allowed three goals on six shots in the opening 16:28 before being replaced by Joey MacDonald, who made 13 saves.

Hall, who has six goals and 10 points during a five-game streak, set up Schultz with a cross-slot feed less than four minutes into the contest for his first goal in 16 games. Hall then received a pass from Schultz in the slot before putting a backhand shot over Kiprusoff at 9:55 to make it 2-0. Jones extended the lead by shoveling the puck past Kiprusoff on a rush later in the period.

Neither Schultz nor Yakupov scored in all of March, but Yakupov ended his drought 10 1/2 minutes into the third as his snap shot from the slot slid under MacDonald’s right arm. McGrattan drove to the net and chipped a loose puck over Dubnyk’s outstretched pad for his second goal in as many games.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Shortly before the game, Calgary traded D Jay Bouwmeester to St. Louis for a first-round pick and a pair of prospects. ... Edmonton C Jordan Eberle assisted on Schultz’s goal, giving him 15 points in 14 career games against the Flames. ... Calgary will host Edmonton on Wednesday to finish the home-and-home series. Tensions between the Northwest Division rivals came to a head on the faceoff following McGrattan’s late goal, resulting in four roughing minors and setting the stage for Wednesday’s installment of the "Battle of Alberta."
