Bruins 4, Capitals 1: Nathan Horton and David Krejci recorded a goal and two assists apiece as host Boston won for the fifth time in six games.

Defenseman Andrew Ference scored his first goal and Rich Peverley tallied on a third-period power play for the Bruins, who avenged a 4-3 overtime loss at Washington on March 5. Milan Lucic finished with a career-high three assists and Anton Khudobin made 32 saves to improve to 5-2-0.

Michal Neuvirth stopped 34 shots in his second straight start for the Capitals, who have lost four of their last five.

Horton opened the scoring with 5:48 remaining in the first period after one-timing a pass from Lucic in the high slot to snap an eight-game goal drought. Lucic set up Krejci from behind the net 3:03 later to double the advantage.

Marcus Johansson was credited with Washington’s only goal when an errant pass by Krejci deflected off defenseman Johnny Boychuk’s skate in front of the Bruins’ net early in the second period. Ference restored Boston’s two-goal advantage 8:02 into the session and Peverley jammed home a loose puck early in the third to ice the contest. Krejci secured his 300th career point with the assist on Peverley's tally.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Emotions came to a boil late in the second period with two fights in the final 19 seconds. Boston LW Brad Marchand and Washington C Mike Ribeiro dropped the gloves for the latter's first career fight, followed by a tilt between Horton and C Matt Hendricks. Hendricks fought again in the third period when D Adam McQuaid challenged him. … Boston was 3-for-3 on the penalty kill and hasn’t allowed a goal in its last 25 short-handed occasions. … Washington's Wojtek Wolski was a healthy scratch for the second consecutive game.
