Captain Rick Nash scored his team-leading 26th goal of the season to snap a tie just over 6 1/2 minutes into the second period and Steve Mason made 29 saves to pace the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets to a 2-1 victory over the Dallas Stars on Sunday afternoon.

Matt Calvert also scored and defenseman Anton Stralman added two assists for the Blue Jackets, who have won five of their last six games. Mason made 14 saves in the third period as the Stars pushed for the equalizer.

Nash broke a 1-1 tie at 6:33 of the second period when he cut in front of the net and lifted a beautiful backhand over Kari Lehtonen’s glove. Jakub Voracek and Stralman were credited with assists.

With Dallas on the power play, Brad Richards opened the scoring with his 24th goal of the season at 4:36 of the first period. Defenseman Trevor Daley and Steve Ott assisted on the play.

Calvert answered 46 seconds later for the Blue Jackets with his fourth goal of the campaign.

Lehtonen made 37 saves in the loss.
