Leon Draisaitl recorded a hat trick and added two assists as the Edmonton Oilers routed the visiting Ottawa Senators 7-1 on Wednesday.

The Oilers won their third straight game and improved to 14-5-0 over their last 19 contests.

Six of those wins have come against Ottawa, as Edmonton is a perfect 6-0-0 against the Senators this season.

Draisaitl hit the five-point plateau for the fourth time in his career, and for the second time in less than six weeks against the Senators. Draisaitl recorded a career-best six points when he collected six assists in Edmonton's 8-5 victory over Ottawa on Jan. 31.

Draisaitl has 15 points (six goals, nine assists) over six games against Ottawa this season, while Connor McDavid has 13 points (two goals, 11 assists).

McDavid had a goal and two assists on Wednesday, while Tyson Barrie had three assists. Darnell Nurse had a goal and an assist for his third multi-point game of the season.

Jujhar Khaira and James Neal scored Edmonton's other goals.

Evgenii Dadonov scored his 100th career NHL goal for the Senators' only offense.

Oilers goaltender Mike Smith stopped 21 of 22 shots for his eighth victory of the season.

Senators goalie Matt Murray matched his career high with seven goals allowed. Receiving little help from his defense for most of Edmonton's scores, Murray looked relatively sharp in stopping 29 of 36 shots to prevent an even more lopsided result.

The Oilers dominated from the start, building a 2-0 lead through six minutes and a 4-0 lead after the first period.

The bad news extended beyond the scoresheet for the Senators. Forwards Colin White (second period) and Ryan Dzingel (third period) left the game with apparent lower-body injuries.

The Senators will look to recover when they face the Oilers again in Edmonton on Friday.
