Quentin Harris threw four touchdown passes as visiting Duke overwhelmed Middle Tennessee 41-18 on Saturday night in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Harris completed 24 of 27 passes for 237 yards. He also rushed 11 times for 107 yards.
Two of the scoring passes went to Aaron Young as the Blue Devils (2-1) won their second game in a row.
In the first half, Harris was 20-for-22 for 203 yards.
Young finished with six catches for 106 yards in Duke's first true road outing of the season.
Middle Tennessee (1-2) opened the scoring on Crews Holt's 41-yard field goal with about eight minutes left in the first quarter.
Duke took a 7-3 lead on Deon Jackson's 3-yard run with 2:05 left in the first quarter, and it was 14-3 after Jalon Calhoun made it to the end zone with a 12-yard reception from Harris with 18 seconds left in the period.
AJ Reed's 49-yard field goal pushed the lead to 17-3 with 11:44 to play in the first half.
The early scoring was a welcome change for Duke, which had largely struggled in the opening 25 minutes of its first two games.
Harris connected with Eli Pancol for an 11-yard touchdown play with 4:30 to play in the second quarter, and Young caught a 25-yard scoring pass from Harris with 17 seconds to go in the half, increasing the lead to 31-3.
After Reed booted a 26-yard field goal about two minutes into the third quarter to make it 34-3, Middle Tennessee reached the end zone on Asher O'Hara's 26-yard pass to CJ Windham with just under 11 minutes left in the third.
O'Hara ended up 19-for-27 for 201 yards and two touchdowns. His other scoring pass also went to Windham, covering 14 yards for the only touchdown of the fourth quarter.
Harris's other scoring strike to Young covered 18 yards in the third quarter.
Duke finished with 237 passing yards and 226 rushing yards.
The Blue Devils have won 22 of their last 26 regular-season nonconference games.
This was the first meeting between the teams. The game began after a weather-related delay of about 10 minutes.
