Justin Herbert passed for 310 yards and five touchdowns before leaving midway through the third quarter, and No. 16 Oregon scored touchdowns on eight consecutive possessions for a lopsided 77-6 victory over the Nevada Wolf Pack in their home opener on Saturday in Eugene, Ore.
Herbert threw four touchdown passes in the first half, three in the second quarter, as the Ducks (1-1) rebounded from a last-second loss to Auburn last week. Herbert has thrown a touchdown pass in 30 consecutive games, the longest active streak in the FBS.
Oregon tight end Jacob Breeland had four receptions for a career-high 112 yards and a touchdown, and wide receiver Bryan Addison had two receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown, as the Ducks rolled up 623 yards of total offense.
Nevada quarterback Carson Strong, making his second career start, completed 13 of 25 passes for 89 yards but was intercepted twice.
The Wolf Pack had 192 yards of total offense, committed four turnovers and were sacked five times.
Ducks halfback CJ Verdell rushed for 60 yards and a touchdown, Cyrus Habibi-Likio had a touchdown run and Darrian Felix capped the scoring on a 62-yard run with 2:02 remaining.
Eleven Ducks scored, including senior offensive tackle Brady Aiello, who caught a 1-yard touchdown pass from Herbert on a tackle-eligible play. Herbert's backup, Tyler Shough, completed 8 of 9 passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns.
Nevada freshman Brandon Talton, who beat Purdue with a 56-yard field goal as time expired last week, made two field goals around Hebert's 66-yard scoring pass to Breeland in the first quarter to make it 7-6 before Oregon took off.
Oregon scored four touchdowns in the final 8:28 of the first half for a 35-6 lead and scored seven touchdowns in a 16:12 span of the second and third periods to make it 56-6.
Herbert, a senior, has 69 career touchdown passes. He moved passed Darron Thomas (66) for second place on the Oregon career list on Saturday. Marcus Mariota is the school leader with 105.
