No. 13 Wichita State 74, Drake 40: Ron Baker scored 15 points to fuel the host Shockers to their 26th straight Missouri Valley Conference victory.
Baker was 3-of-7 from outside the arc as Wichita State (18-2, 8-0) finished 9-of-23 from long range with seven different players accounting for those made 3-pointers. Tekele Cotton (10 points) was the only other Shockers player in double figures.
Reed Timmer led the Bulldogs (4-16, 1-7), who entered 331st in the nation in scoring, with eight points. Jacob Enevold Jensen recorded a team-high six rebounds but also had five of Drake's 17 turnovers.
Baker made a 3-pointer on the opening possession of the game as Wichita State jumped out to leads of 9-2 and 28-12 en route to a 36-19 halftime lead. Baker led all players with eight first-half points while the Shockers made five 3-pointers in 14 attempts, compared to 0-of-5 for the Bulldogs.
Drake never got the deficit under 19 points in the second half, and a 9-0 run by Wichita State midway through the session ended any faint hopes of a comeback. Back-to-back 3-pointers by Corey Henderson Jr. and Jared Walker pushed the margin to 74-35 with 3 1/2 minutes to go.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Shockers used 15 different players with the bench accounting for 32 points. ... Wichita State PG Fred VanVleet chipped in eight points, six assists and four steals. ... Gary Ricks Jr., who entered leading Drake in scoring, was limited to six points on 3-of-9 shooting.
