Chudier Bile scored 19 points off the bench and David Duke missed a free throw with 1.5 seconds remaining as Georgetown eked out a 73-72 win over Providence on Saturday in Washington.

It was the Hoyas' first game since Jan. 9 after four games had been postponed due to COVID-19 protocols.

Qudus Wahab hit a go-ahead inside jumper from the baseline with 1:16 left to give Georgetown the lead. The Hoyas survived only after Duke's second free-throw attempt rimmed out and Wahab secured the rebound.

Jamorko Pickett had 12 points, five rebounds and four assists for Georgetown (4-8 overall, 2-5 Big East), which snapped a five-game losing skid. Donald Carey added 10 points, including a straight-away 3-pointer and a layup that provided a 67-65 lead with four minutes left.

Providence's A.J. Reeves scored 22 of his 28 points in the first half but missed two key 3-point attempts in the final minutes. Reeves finished 10 of 17 from the floor, including 6 of 12 from the arc, and added five rebounds and five assists. He entered the game averaging 8.8 points.

Nate Watson had 12 points and five rebounds for Providence (9-8, 5-6) but fouled out with 3:18 left in the game. Duke, who entered second in the Big East in scoring at 19.5 points per game, finished with five points on 2 of 11 shooting but did contribute seven assists.

Bile scored 12 points after the break and finished with nine rebounds. He shot 10 of 12 from the line but split two free throws with 5 seconds left for a two-point lead. Duke was fouled on a jumper with his toe touching the 3-point line and made the first attempt before missing the second.

The Hoyas looked rusty out of the gate. Reeves outscored the Hoyas himself, 16-14, on 4 of 5 shooting from the arc, in the first 11 minutes as the Friars opened a 29-14 lead. But the Hoyas got seven points from Bile and two 3-pointers from Pickett to close within 42-38 at the half.

Pickett had 10 points in the first half and converted two of Georgetown's three 3-pointers.
