Butler 56, Texas 48: Kellen Dunham scored 20 points as the Bulldogs overcame a poor shooting afternoon to dispose of the Longhorns in NCAA Tournament round of 64 action from Pittsburgh.

Kameron Woods added nine points and nine rebounds for sixth-seeded Butler (23-10), which had gone 4-4 over its previous eight games and was far from perfect on Thursday, shooting 33.3 percent from the field and getting outrebounded 41-28. Alex Barlow chipped in seven points and eight boards for the Bulldogs, who will face No. 3 seed Notre Dame on Saturday.

The 11th-seeded Longhorns were led by Jonathan Holmes (15 points) and Isaiah Taylor (14), while Connor Lammert grabbed 10 rebounds. Freshman forward Myles Turner had 10 boards off the bench but also committed four of the team's 15 turnovers.

Taylor scored six straight points to get Texas within 44-43 with 2:41 remaining, but Butler reeled off the next six points - highlighted by Dunham's 3-pointer with 1:17 left. Felix's 3-pointer with 43 seconds to go made it 52-48 before Barlow went 2-of-2 from the foul line and the Longhorns never scored again.

Holmes scored all 10 of his first-half points in the final five minutes of the period as the Longhorns turned an 11-point hole into a manageable 26-24 halftime deficit. The Bulldogs did not record a field goal in the second half until more than six minutes had elapsed, but the Longhorns went nearly 10 minutes without a bucket early in the period as Butler took an eight-point advantage.
