No. 13 Utah 67, Washington State 59: Delon Wright had 18 points, eight rebounds and eight assists as the visiting Utes held on to beat the Cougars.

Jordan Loveridge added 16 points for Utah (23-6, 13-4), which trailed by as many as eight in the second half. Brandon Taylor contributed 11 points and Chris Reyes scored eight for the Utes, who had lost two of three for the first time this season coming into the game.

DaVonte Lacy scored 16 points to lead Washington State (12-17, 6-11). Jordan Railey contributed 12 points, Josh Hawkinson had 11 points and nine rebounds and Ike Iroegbu finished with seven assists for the Cougars.

Taylor’s 3-pointer with 4:57 remaining broke a deadlock at 50, and the Cougars pulled within one on a layup by Hawkinson with 4:18 left, but Utah scored the next six points to take its biggest lead at 59-52. Washington State twice trimmed the deficit back to five but the Utes shot 5-for-6 from the free throw line in the final 36 seconds to seal the win.

The score was tied at 23 at the half and again at 26 before back-to-back 3-pointers by Lacy gave Washington State a 32-26 lead with 17:27 remaining. The Cougars twice stretched their advantage to eight over the next five minutes but the Utes used a 7-0 run to get even at 48 with 6:31 on the clock.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Utah 7-foot freshman C Jakob Poeltl, who came in averaging 8.5 points and 7.1 rebounds, battled foul trouble and went scoreless without attempting a shot and grabbed two rebounds. …. The Utes, who are 16-1 on their home floor this season, improved to 7-5 on the road and beat Washington State in Pullman for the first time since joining the Pac-12. … The Utes are one of two teams in the nation that haven't allowed an opponent to score more than 72 points this season.
