Marquette 83, Alabama A&M 49: Luke Fischer erupted for 22 points on a perfect night from the field as the host Golden Eagles steamrolled the Bulldogs.
Fischer went 8-for-8 from the floor in his second game of the season as Marquette (6-4) won for the fifth time in seven games. Steve Taylor Jr. had 16 points while Juan Anderson added 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
Rakiya Battle's 18 points led Alabama A&M (1-7), which fell to 0-6 on the road. Nicholas West added 14 points while Tyler Davis and Ladarius Tabb had eight apiece.
The Golden Eagles wasted no time putting distance between themselves and the Bulldogs, breaking out to a 12-2 lead behind 3-pointers from Anderson and Matt Carlino. Back-to-back Fischer jumpers extended the advantage to 15 and he added two more slams near the end of the half as Marquette went into the break with a 40-20 advantage.
Anderson racked up six of the Golden Eagles' 13 consecutive points to open the second half and Jajuan Johnson's 3-pointer made it 60-26 with 11:47 remaining. Fischer completed his perfect night with a layup with 4:18 left and Alabama A&M didn't get within 30 points the rest of the way.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Fischer, an Indiana transfer, has converted 17-of-19 shots from the field through two games. ... Alabama A&M shot 4-of-21 from 3-point range and 9-of-17 from the free-throw line. ... Marquette finished with 23 assists on 30 field goals while shooting 61.2 percent.
