No. 18 Michigan State 85, Arkansas-Pine Bluff 52: Matt Costello scored a career-high 15 points, and the Spartans shot 65 percent in the first half in a rout of the visiting Golden Lions.

Travis Trice scored 15 points and Bryn Forbes remained sizzling from the arc with four 3-pointers for Michigan State (6-3), which hit 10-of-18 shots from the arc and held Arkansas-Pine Bluff to 31.5 percent from the floor after tough losses to Kansas and Notre Dame. Branden Dawson had 12 points and seven rebounds, and Denzel Valentine added eight points and eight assists as the Spartans started a seven-game homestead with an easy win.

Marcel Mosley had 19 points and five steals for Arkansas-Pine Bluff (1-7), playing its seventh in a stretch of 13 games away from home to start the season. Ghiavonni Robinson had 13 points, and Jovaughn Love added 11 and eight boards for the Golden Lions.

Dawson opened the contest with a three-point play before Forbes sandwiched two 3-pointers around one by Valentine as the Spartans took a 12-2 lead 2 1/2 minutes in and never looked back. The Golden Lions went seven minutes without a field goal later in the half as the Spartans jumped to a 42-14 lead with 3:53 left.

Trice and Forbes cashed in from the arc as Michigan State took a 54-20 lead into the locker room, and 3-pointers from Forbes and Trice and a three-point play by Costello pushed the lead to 37 just five minutes into the second half. Mosley, Tevin Hammond and Robinson knocked down shots from the arc to get the Golden Lions within 26 before the Spartans closed the door.
