Branden Carlson scored 25 points and collected eight rebounds to lead Utah to an 86-61 victory over Washington in Salt Lake City on Saturday night.
Gabe Madsen tallied 17 points for the Utes. Marco Anthony added 13 points and 10 rebounds. Rollie Worster chipped in 11 points, nine rebounds, and a game-high 10 assists.
Utah (14-7, 7-3 Pac-12) won its second straight game. The Utes scored 18 points off turnovers. They outscored Washington 48-22 in the paint and had a 25-13 edge in second-chance points.
Keion Brooks, Jr. tallied 17 points and nine rebounds to lead the Huskies. Cole Bajema added 13 points and Noah Williams chipped in 10.
Washington (12-9, 4-6) had a three-game winning streak snapped. The Huskies never found a consistent rhythm on offense and shot just 35 percent from the field.
Utah broke the game open in the middle of the first half behind a 15-0 run. Madsen scored baskets on three straight possessions -- highlighted by back-to-back 3-pointers -- to punctuate the run and put the Utes up 32-13.
Washington went scoreless for nearly four minutes before Keyon Menifield ended the drought with a jumper. The Huskies fell behind by double digits after missing 15 of their first 20 shots from the field.
Utah experienced its own scoring drought later in the first half, opening the door for Washington to close the gap. The Utes went three minutes without making a basket. Brooks made a pair of layups and a pair of free throws to power an 11-1 run that cut Utah's lead to 36-28.
Worster and Carlson scored back-to-back layups following turnovers to stop Washington's would-be rally. A second basket from Carlson pushed Utah's lead to 44-30 going into halftime.
The Huskies never drew closer than 13 points in the second half. Utah slammed the door on any sort of rally after Washington cut the deficit to 63-50, going up 77-53 when Carlson capped a 14-3 run with a dunk.
