No. 2 UCLA used a 12-0 run midway through the second half to end UNLV's hope for a comeback, and the Bruins cruised to a 73-51 win Saturday in Las Vegas.

UCLA (6-1) built a 15-point halftime lead, thanks to a stifling defense and effective 3-point shooting. The Bruins held UNLV to just nine first-half field goals while hitting 6-of-11 from beyond the arc on their own end.

UNLV (4-3) trimmed the deficit to single digits through the first five minutes out of intermission before UCLA took over. Five different Bruins scored baskets during the 12-0 burst, which proved to be decisive.

The Runnin' Rebels could never get closer than 16 points the rest of the way and finished with just 14 points in the final 14:43 of regulation.

Jules Bernard led four Bruins in double figures with 18 points. Bernard also set the pace on UCLA's 8-of-17 3-point shooting, going 3 of 4. Tyger Campbell and Johnny Juzang, who each shot 2 of 4 from long range, scored 15 and 12 points.

Jaime Jaquez Jr. added another 12 points and matched a game-high with five assists. Juzang and reserve Peyton Watson both grabbed a game-high nine rebounds, leading the way as UCLA enjoyed a 48-27 advantage on the glass.

The Bruins harassed Runnin' Rebels shooters throughout the afternoon, holding UNLV to just 30.4 percent shooting on the floor. After giving up only nine made field goals on 32 attempts in the first half, UCLA allowed just eight makes on 24 attempts in the second half.

Bryce Hamilton led UNLV with 15 points on 6-of-15 shooting from the floor, including 3-of-7 from 3-point range. Donovan Williams was the only other Runnin' Rebel to score in double-figures with 12 points.

Royce Hamm Jr. scored eight points and matched a team-high with four rebounds before fouling out for UNLV.
