Jaime Jaquez Jr. recorded 20 points and eight rebounds to help second-ranked UCLA roll to a 98-63 victory over visiting North Florida in nonconference play on Wednesday night.

Johnny Juzang added 17 points for UCLA (4-0). Myles Johnson collected 13 rebounds as the Bruins owned a resounding 54-24 rebounding edge in the wire-to-wire victory.

Jules Bernard scored 15 points and Tyger Campbell contributed 13 points, six rebounds and five assists for the Bruins. David Singleton added 11 points.

Carter Hendricksen scored 11 points for North Florida (0-5), which completed a season-opening five-game road excursion. The Ospreys lost the five games by an average of 18.2 points.

UCLA shot 50 percent from the field, including 9 of 17 from 3-point range. The Bruins committed nine turnovers while forcing 13.

North Florida made 37.1 percent of its shots from the field and was 8 of 26 from behind the arc.

Bruins coach Mick Cronin strongly criticized his players for their shoddy defense two nights earlier when Long Beach State shot 58.2 percent from the field in UCLA's 100-79 victory.

In this one, Jaquez had 14 points and six rebounds as UCLA held a 55-33 lead at the break. The Bruins had a 29-11 rebounding edge in the half.

UCLA led 18-9 less than seven minutes into the game before Chaz Lanier, Hendricksen and Jacob Crews hit 3-pointers during an 11-2 surge as North Florida pulled within 22-20 with 11:11 remaining in the half.

The Ospreys were within 32-26 after Jose Placer's basket with 7:26 left before the Bruins ripped off 15 straight points. Jaquez and Juzang each made a 3-pointer during the run that saw UCLA open up a 47-26 cushion with 3:49 left.

Hendricksen drained a 3-pointer to start the second half before UCLA rattled off 11 consecutive points. Bernard's three-point play capped the spurt to make it 66-36 with 16:15 remaining.

Juzang connected on a 3-pointer to start a 7-0 run that pushed the Bruins' advantage to 87-54 with 6:23 left.
