Cade Cunningham scored a season-high 40 points to lift Oklahoma State to a 94-90 overtime win over No. 7 Oklahoma on Saturday in Norman, Okla.
Cunningham, the potential top pick in this year's NBA draft, had 10 points in overtime, including a steal with just more than a minute remaining and the Cowboys up by one, that led to a pair of free throws. Eight of Cunningham's overtime points came on free throws.
Cunningham added 11 rebounds as Oklahoma State (16-6, 9-6 Big 12) dominated the boards, outrebounding the Sooners 45-28.
The win was the Cowboys' fourth consecutive and seventh in nine games.
The game was the first of two in three days between the teams. They'll play at Oklahoma State on Monday in a game that was originally scheduled for Jan. 16 before COVID-19 protocols forced the Cowboys to pause team activities.
Cunningham looked like he had ended it with a strong sequence in the final minute of regulation, first answering Elijah Harkless' 3-pointer with a driving layup of his own to give the Cowboys back the lead.
Then, Cunningham came from behind to block Austin Reaves' shot with less than 24 seconds to go.
But Bryce Williams missed the second of two free throws, giving the Sooners (14-7, 9-6) a chance to tie it or win in regulation.
This time, Reaves gave it up, dishing to Brady Manek underneath for a layup that tied it at 75.
Cunningham had one more chance in regulation but Harkless batted it away near midcourt, running the clock out.
After a hot start offensively, the Cowboys cooled down when Harkless came into the game for Oklahoma.
Harkless had started the last 11 games before coming off the bench Saturday.
The Cowboys were 8 of 12 from the floor when Harkless entered, but were just 4 of 18 in the final nearly 12 minutes of the first half with Harkless on the floor.
Oklahoma led by 10 early in the second half but the Sooners cooled off from the field, hitting just 1 of 9 to start the second half, allowing the Cowboys to close the gap.
Oklahoma State took its first lead since late in the first half on a barrage of 3-pointers, hitting three in a four-possession span.
Williams hit the first two before Cunningham drilled the third, from the top of the key, to put the Cowboys up front with 9:32 left.
