Stony Brook's lead was cut to 33-31 at halftime after Mamukelashvili made a dunk at the buzzer. Mamukelashvili had 10 points and seven rebounds at halftime.

Neither team led by more than six points in the second half until McKnight made a 3-pointer with 6:42 left to give Seton Hall a 56-49 lead. The shot started a 9-2 run that increased the Pirates' margin to 62-51 with 4:17 remaining.

During that run, Mamukelashvili took an elbow to the nose while going after a rebound. He went to the locker room but returned.
