Abdul-Malik Abu and Dennis Smith Jr. each posted double-doubles and North Carolina State wrapped up nonconference play with a 99-71 win over Rider on Wednesday at PNC Arena in Raleigh, N.C.
Abu finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds for the junior forward's 19th double-double of his career.
Smith added 19 points and 16 assists for the first double-double of his career. He also had a highlight-reel, one-handed power dunk in the second half as N.C. State pulled away.
N.C. State has won six in a row and is off to its best start since the 2012-13 team opened the year 14-2.
The Wolfpack tip off ACC play on Saturday at Miami.
Freshman guard Stevie Jordan had 14 points and senior forward Xavier Lundy scored 12 points for the Broncs (8-5), who have dropped two straight games.
Abu's dunk capped a 12-2 run and gave the Wolfpack an early 24-12 lead.
Rider struggled to find its range in the first half, shooting 23.7 percent from the floor. The Broncs hit only 2 of 21 from the floor during one stretch that saw N.C. State's lead grow to 32-15.
Abu had 10 points and eight rebounds, helping the Wolfpack take a 40-25 lead into halftime.
Rider never seriously threatened in the second half. A three-point play by Maverick Rowan extended the Wolfpack lead to 60-39 with 11:34 to play. The lead ballooned to 32 with three minutes left.
All five N.C. State starters scored in double figures, with freshman center Omer Yurtseven adding 16 points. Rowan finished with 12 points off the bench and reserve freshman forward Ted Kapita added seven points and 11 rebounds.
Rider (8-5) returns to MAAC play Saturday at Monmouth.
