No. 24 Texas A&M’s guard tandem of Jalen Jones and Danuel House combined to score 34 points in the host Aggies’ 80-61 nonconference victory over 16th-ranked Baylor on Saturday night in College Station, Texas.
Texas A&M center Tyler Davis added 15 points while making all six of his field-goal attempts.
The Bears (8-2), led by guard Lester Medford’s 16 points, shot only 35.6 percent. They had nearly as many turnovers (16) as field goals made (21).
Jones and House each finished with 17 points as the Aggies (9-2) made 47.6 percent of their field goals. Texas A&M also won the rebounding battle 45-40 and committed just 12 turnovers while producing 23 assists.
Baylor forward Rico Gathers pulled down a game-high 18 rebounds.
Texas A&M was never threatened after scoring the first seven points. Led by House's 14 points and Jones' 11, the Aggies built as much as a 22-point lead and were up 51-30 at halftime.
They then scored the first seven points in the first three minutes of the second half.
The Aggies will have a 10-day holiday hiatus before hosting Cal-Poly on Dec. 29. They will start SEC play at home vs. Arkansas on Jan. 2.
Baylor will return to action at home vs. New Mexico State on Dec. 23.
