Bryant McIntosh scored 18 points and Tre Demps added 16 as the host Wildcats defeated the Hawkeyes to snap a 10-game losing streak.

Alex Olah contributed 11 points, 13 rebounds and five blocked shots as Northwestern (11-14, 2-10 Big Ten) led nearly the entire time in regulation before fighting off Iowa in overtime. Scottie Lindsey’s layup gave the Wildcats a 59-57 lead with 1:29 left in the extra session as part of a 7-0 run that led to a five-point gap and the Hawkeyes were unable to get closer than three points the rest of the way.

Jarrod Uthoff scored a season-high 25 points and made five 3-pointers for Iowa (15-10, 6-6), which has lost five of its last seven games. Leading scorer Aaron White grabbed 13 rebounds but tallied just six points on 1-of-12 shooting.

Josh Oglesby drained back-to-back 3-pointers to cap an 8-0 run and give Iowa its first lead of the contest at 38-36 and Uthoff hit two 3-pointers in a 45-second span and later added a jumper to give the Hawkeyes a 46-41 lead with 4:25 to play in regulation. Demps answered with back-to-back 3-pointers to give the Wildcats a 47-46 edge with 2:46 remaining and Northwestern led 52-48 after two free throws by Olah with 19 seconds to go before Uthoff connected on two 3-pointers in the final 12 seconds of regulation to force overtime at 54.

The Wildcats used an 8-0 burst to take a 21-11 lead on a 3-pointer by Demps with 7:47 remaining in the first half. Iowa caught Northwestern at 24 before Demps buried another 3-pointer with eight seconds left for a three-point halftime lead and the Wildcats increased the advantage to 36-30 as the Hawkeyes missed their first eight shots of the second half.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Demps made four of Northwestern’s nine 3-point baskets. … Iowa shot just 32.3 percent from the field. … Wildcats G JerShon Cobb (foot) missed his second straight game.
