No. 14 Creighton 84, DePaul 62: Doug McDermott scored 27 of his 35 points during a record-setting first half as the Bluejays rolled over the Blue Demons in the quarterfinals of the Big East tournament in New York City.

McDermott nearly outscored DePaul in the first half, shooting 10-of-14 - including 7-of-9 from 3-point range - to set the tournament record for points in a first half, helping Creighton to a 49-29 advantage at intermission. The nation's leading scorer finished 14-of-22 from the floor and 7-of-10 from behind the arc, one game after scoring a career-high 45 against Providence in the Bluejays' regular-season finale.

Jahenns Manigat had 14 points on 4-of-5 3-point shooting and Austin Chatman contributed 11 points and nine assists for second-seeded Creighton (25-6), which will face third-seeded Xavier in Friday's semifinals. The 10th-seeded Blue Demons (12-21) were led by Brandon Young's 22 points and eight boards.

McDermott made a 3-pointer six seconds into the game and never looked back, combining with Manigat for 11 first-half 3-pointers on 14 attempts. McDermott only had two points in the first 11-plus minutes of the second half as DePaul hung relatively close, drawing within 65-52 on Young's jumper near the eight-minute mark.

However, a layup by Chatman, a 3-pointer by Ethan Wragge and a layup by McDermott stretched the lead to 20, and the Bluejays cruised from there. Wragge chipped in eight rebounds to lead Creighton, which held a 33-26 lead on the glass and held DePaul to 6-of-22 from behind the arc.
