No. 7 Cincinnati 63, Connecticut 58: Sean Kilpatrick had 26 points, 12 rebounds and six assists as the host Bearcats defeated the Huskies in the American Athletic Conference contest for their 15th consecutive victory.

Kilpatrick was 5-of-8 from 3-point range, including one that put Cincinnati (22-2, 11-0) ahead to stay with 5:19 remaining. Justin Jackson added 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting for the Bearcats.

Shabazz Napier scored 16 points and Lasan Kromah added 13 for Connecticut, which was without second-leading scorer DeAndre Daniels (ankle, back) for the second consecutive game. Niels Giffey added 10 points for the Huskies (17-5, 5-4) but missed a tying 3-point attempt with six seconds to play.

Kromah’s three-point play gave Connecticut a 46-41 lead with 10:49 remaining before the Huskies went more than seven minutes without a field goal as Cincinnati surged ahead to take a five-point lead. Connecticut pulled within 59-58 on a 3-pointer by Ryan Boatright with 19.3 seconds left and Cincinnati’s Jermaine Sanders hit two free throws with 18.5 seconds to play before Kilpatrick went to the line after Giffey’s miss and sealed it with two free throws with 4.3 seconds remaining.

The Huskies led most of the first half with their largest lead being 10 on a 3-pointer by Giffey with 2:17 left in the half. Cincinnati scored the final five of the half to trail 31-26 but Connecticut began the second half with a spurt and possessed a 42-34 lead on Omar Calhoun’s basket with just over 15 minutes remaining.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Kilpatrick has scored 20 or more points 12 times this season. … The Huskies were just 5-of-21 from 3-point range with Napier missing 10 of his 12 attempts. … The Bearcats are 16-0 at home this season and have won 18 straight dating to last season.
