Texas A&M 69, Arkansas 53: Freshman Davonte Fitzgerald had 17 points off the bench as the Aggies pulled away late from the visiting Razorbacks.
Fabyon Harris added 15 points and Jamal Jones had 14 points and eight rebounds for Texas A&M (10-4, 1-0 SEC), which improved to 10-1 at home. Alex Caruso chipped in four points, a career-high 11 assists, seven rebounds and four steals.
Rashad Madden had 12 points for Arkansas (11-3, 0-1), which had its seven-game win streak snapped. Coty Clark had nine points and 10 rebounds for the Razorbacks, who had more turnovers (14) than their opponent (11) for the first time this season.
Harris had straight seven points in the middle of an 11-0 run as Texas A&M built a 30-22 lead with just over 6 1/2 minutes left in the first half. Arkansas answered with nine straight points for a brief lead but Shawn Smith gave the Aggies a 35-33 halftime lead with a layup with just over a minute left.
Jones and Fitzgerald hit back-to-back 3s for a 10-point lead with a little more than 12 minutes to play as Texas A&M started the second half 5-of-10 from the field. Madden had a fast-break layup and transition 3-pointer to get Arkansas within 51-44 with just under 8 1/2 minutes left, but Arkansas never got closer and the Aggies sealed the victory with a late 9-0 run for a 69-50 lead with less than three minutes remaining.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Arkansas lost its sixth straight SEC road opener. ... Arkansas F Bobby Portis went 21-of-24 from the floor in his previous three games but was held to seven points on a 3-of-10 performance. ... The Aggies held the league's top offense to 36.2 percent shooting and outrebounded Arkansas 42-38.
