Nik Stauskas tied his career high with 22 points and made a career-best six 3-pointers without a miss to propel the Wolverines past the Gators with a convincing victory in the South Regional final at Arlington, Texas.

Trey Burke scored 15 points and Mitch McGary had 11 points and nine rebounds as fourth-seeded Michigan (30-7) advanced to the Final Four for the first time since 1993. The Wolverines will face Syracuse on Saturday.

Kenny Boynton and Will Yeguete scored 13 points apiece for third-seeded Florida (29-8), which lost in the Elite Eight for the third straight year.

Michigan roared out of the gate by scoring the first 13 points and led 23-5 after a 3-pointer by Stauskas with 11:25 left in the first half. Stauskas’ fifth 3-pointer of the half pushed the lead to 41-17 with 4:08 to go and the Wolverines led 47-30 at the break.

Florida was within 11 early in the second half but another 3-pointer by Stauskas stymied the charge. A 7-0 burst later in the half stretched the margin back to 21 with 8:45 remaining and the Wolverines cruised to the finish.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Stauskas finished 7-of-8 from the field and scored 19 of his points in the first half. … Gators F Erik Murphy was scoreless and missed all 11 of his shots. … Burke also had eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals while playing with a stomach virus.
