Louisville 77, Oregon 69: Russ Smith tied a career high with 31 points and the top-seeded Cardinals withstood a late charge by the Ducks in the NCAA Tournament Midwest Region semifinals in Indianapolis.

Kevin Ware added 11 points and Gorgui Dieng had 10 points and nine rebounds for Louisville (32-5), which shot 53.8 percent and extended its winning streak to 13 games. The Cardinals will meet second-seeded Duke in the Elite Eight on Sunday.

E.J. Singler paced 12th-seeded Oregon (28-9) with 15 points, while Damyean Dotson and Dominic Artis added 12 apiece. The Ducks cut an 18-point second-half deficit to six with 5:13 left, but the Cardinals scored six unanswered points to squash Oregon’s comeback.

Louisville shot 60 percent in the first half, when they closed with a 14-5 run to lead by 14 at the break. Dotson, who averaged 20 points in Oregon's wins over Oklahoma State and Saint Louis, missed all six of his shots in the first half.

Louisville advanced to its second straight Elite Eight and third in the last five years despite a quiet game from senior point guard Peyton Siva, who was limited by early foul trouble and finished with four points on 1-of-5 shooting.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Louisville improved to 28-0 when leading at the half. … The Cardinals have outscored their first three opponents in the NCAA Tournament by an average of 21.7 points. … Cardinals coach Rick Pitino improved to 11-0 all-time in Sweet 16 games.
