Seton Hall 46, South Florida 42 (OT): Fuquan Edwin finished with 17 points – including the go-ahead layup in overtime – as the Pirates downed the Bulls in a first-round game of the Big East tournament at Madison Square Garden.

Eugene Teague posted his fifth double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds for Seton Hall (15-17), which will meet No. 5 seed Syracuse in the second round Wednesday.

Zach LeDay tallied 13 points and a career-high 15 rebounds – including seven on the offensive end – for South Florida (12-19).

After the Pirates rallied from an eight-point deficit with 2:50 left in regulation, Aaron Cosby drained a 3-pointer on their first overtime possession to give Seton Hall its first lead since midway through the first half. The Bulls tied the game at 40 and again at 42, but Edwin’s layup with 1:09 remaining gave the Pirates the lead for good at 44-42 and his free throws with less than a second remaining secured the victory.

LeDay drained three free throws to give the Bulls a 32-27 lead with 7:54 left in regulation, accounting for the only points by either team over a 6:14 stretch. Teague answered with a layup to cut Seton Hall’s deficit to three with 4:49 remaining, but LeDay hit a 3-pointer and followed it up with another jumper on the next possession to stake South Florida to a 37-29 advantage.
