Dorian Green scored 16 points and drained the go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:05 remaining as the Rams defeated the Aztecs for their 27th consecutive home victory.

Green added a three-point play with 19.4 seconds remaining as Colorado State (20-4, 7-2 Mountain West) scored the final eight points to beat San Diego State for just the second time in the last 14 meetings.

Chase Tapley scored 16 points to pace San Diego State (18-6, 6-4). Xavier Thames and JJ O’Brien added 12 points and leading scorer Jamaal Franklin struggled to 11 points on 4-of-13 shooting.

Greg Smith added 15 points and Pierce Hornung had 12 points and eight rebounds as Colorado State emerged victorious in its first game as a ranked team since 1954.

The contest was tied at 35 at halftime and was close throughout the second half. O’Brien hit back-to-back baskets to give the Aztecs a 60-58 lead with 1:29 remaining. Green missed a shot with 1:11 to play but Hornung grabbed the offensive rebound and got the ball back to Green, who sank the crucial 3-pointer.

GAME NOTEBOOK: C Colton Iverson grabbed 11 rebounds as the Rams had a 43-31 rebounding advantage. … San Diego State was only 8-of-14 from the free-throw line. … Colorado State’s homecourt winning streak is the nation’s third-longest.
