Southern California 72, Washington State 68: Byron Wesley scored a season-high 20 points and J.T. Terrell had all 12 of his points in the second half as the host Trojans dispatched of the Cougars in Pac-12 play.

Jio Fontan scored 10 points and matched a career best with 11 assists and Dewayne Dedmon grabbed 10 rebounds as USC (10-13, 5-5 Pac-12) won its second straight contest.

DaVonte Lacy scored 21 points and Mike Ladd added 16 for Washington State (11-12, 2-8). Leading scorer Brock Motum was just 6-of-16 shooting and scored five of his 15 points in the final 15 seconds as the Cougars lost for the eighth time in 10 games.

Washington State led 41-34 with 15:47 to play after a basket by Lacy. The Trojans answered with a 15-6 spurt and Terrell hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give USC a 49-47 lead with 7:51 remaining. Terrell hit a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 5:26 to play as part of a 7-0 run that put the Trojans ahead to stay.

USC had a seven-point lead midway through the first half but Washington State used an 11-3 surge to take a 25-24 lead with five minutes to go. The Cougars led 33-30 at the break.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Trojans are 3-3 under interim coach Bob Cantu. … The Cougars dropped to 1-5 on the road. … Ari Stewart added a season-best 11 points for USC.
