No. 8 Arizona 79, Washington State 65: Solomon Hill made a career-high six 3-pointers and scored 18 points as the visiting Wildcats moved back into a tie for first in the Pac-12.

Mark Lyons led Arizona with 20 points, scoring 16 in the second half. Brandon Ashley and Kaleb Tarczewski contributed 10 points apiece for the Wildcats (19-2, 7-2).

Brock Motum and DaVonte Lacy scored 15 points apiece to lead the Cougars (11-11, 2-7). Royce Woolridge contributed 14 points and D.J. Shelton finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds for Washington State.

Hill banked in a shot from the top of the 3-point line on the far end of the floor to end the first half and extend Arizona’s lead to 40-23. Hill scored all 18 of his points in the opening 20 minutes.

The Wildcats stretched the lead to as much as 18 in the second half before the Cougars made a late push, getting as close as 10 on a two occasions in the final five minutes. Mike Ladd scored two points for the Cougars, ending a streak of nine straight games in double figures.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Arizona recorded its first sweep at Washington and Washington State since 2005. … Arizona’s last six opponents have combined to shoot 25-for-94 from 3-point range. … The six 3-pointers in the opening half by Hill tied a school record for most makes in a half.
