No. 22 New Mexico 75, Nevada 62: Guard Hugh Greenwood scored 15 points, including four 3-pointers, to go along with seven rebounds and six assists as the host Lobos remained in sole possession of first place in the Mountain West.
Demetrius Walker scored 12 points and Chad Adams added 10 for New Mexico (19-3, 6-1), which closed the game out with a 25-11 run to improve to 11-1 at The Pit this season.
Guard Malik Story scored a game-high 20 points for Nevada (11-10, 2-5) but only had five in the second half. Point guard Deonte Burton scored 13 points and had seven assists and Jordan Burris added 10 points for the Wolf Pack, who were playing the Lobos for the first time in school history.
The game was tight for most of the first 30 minutes with the hot-shooting Story keeping Nevada close in the first half. The Lobos, who twice led by as many as six points in the first 20 minutes, needed a Greenwood free throw to lead by two at halftime 34-32.
Nevada rallied to take a 51-50 lead on a 3-pointer from Burton with 11:18 remaining. But Adams hit a pair of 3-pointers over a 10-2 run during the next four minutes to put New Mexico ahead 60-53, and the Wolf Pack never got any closer than six points the rest of the way.
GAME NOTEBOOK: New Mexico improved to 36-7 at home in conference play in six seasons under Steve Alford. ... The Lobos, who came in shooting 33 percent from 3-point range, connected on 11-of-21 treys. ... New Mexico finished with 22 assists on 28 field goals.
