Baylor 79, Brigham Young 64: Pierre Jackson scored 16 points to lead five players in double figures as the Bears cruised to a home victory over the Cougars.

The Bears (8-3) overcame a monster game by the Cougars' Brandon Davies, who finished with 26 points and 17 rebounds. Still, it was Baylor's front line duo of Isaiah Austin (14 points, 10 rebounds, five blocks) and Cory Jefferson (13 points, 16 rebounds) that won the battle in the paint.

BYU (8-4) jumped out to a 9-2 advantage just 2:07 into the game thanks to Tyler Haws' five points during the run. The Cougars built their lead to 29-19 on Raul Delgado's 3-pointer with 7:57 to go in the first, but Baylor finished the half on a 21-2 run that gave the Bears control of the contest.

Haws finished with 13 points, as only six Cougars scored in the game. BYU shot 16.7 percent (2 of 12) from 3-point range.

Jackson finished with a team-high nine assists. Brady Heslip scored 11 for the Bears while A.J. Walton added 10.

GAME NOTEBOOK: BYU G Craig Cusick came into the game averaging 5.5 points a contest, but was shutout for only the second time this season. … Baylor connected on 50 percent of its 3-point attempts, hitting 9 of 18. … The Cougars will next play at home, hosting Northern Arizona on Dec. 27. The Bears are off for a week before traveling to face Gonzaga on Dec. 28.
