Oklahoma 65, Texas A&M 62: Romero Osby scored a career-high 24 points - including a late insurance basket with 35 seconds left - as the host Sooners avenged an earlier heartbreaking loss to the Aggies.

Cameron Clark added nine points and nine rebounds for Oklahoma (15-15, 5-13 Big 12), which secured the No. 8 seed in next week’s Big 12 tournament and will meet No. 9 seed Texas A&M (13-17, 4-14) on Wednesday.

After Dash Harris drilled a 3-pointer to open the second half and move the Aggies to within four points, Osby answered with a jumper and scored six points during a 14-2 run that gave the Sooners a 45-31 advantage.

But like the first meeting Jan. 21 that Texas A&M won in overtime, the Aggies cut into a sizable Oklahoma second-half advantage but could not take the lead at any point.

Unlike the previous meeting, the Sooners didn’t allow Texas A&M the opportunity to send the game into overtime when replays showed that officials incorrectly called a jump ball when they could not see David Loubeau knock the ball out of bounds off Osby’s leg with less than 10 seconds remaining.

Oklahoma retained possession and following a foul, Sam Grooms hit two free throws to give the Sooners a three-point lead.

Elston Turner managed to get off a clean look from about 30 feet as time expired to send the game into an extra period, but his shot fell short.

Loubeau finished with a team-high 15 points for the Aggies, who finished 1-8 on the road in conference play.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Oklahoma, which is near the bottom of Division I in 3-point baskets and attempts, shot 2 of 6 from beyond the arc and improved to 2-2 when it hits two 3-pointers or less. … In a bit of irony, it was a 3-pointer from Turner in the Aggies’ earlier win over the Sooners at College Station that sent a 65-62 game into overtime.
