PURDUE 83, NEBRASKA 65: Robbie Hummel scored a season-high 29 points to lead five players in double figures and the host Boilermakers got a much-needed Big Ten Conference win.

The trio of Hummel, D.J. Byrd and Ryne Smith combined for all 13 3-pointers as the Boilermakers (18-10, 8-7 Big Ten) shot 54.5 percent from the field and moved into a fifth-place tie with rival Indiana.

Byrd, who served a one-game suspension for his involvement in an incident at a West Lafayette, Ind., nightclub last week and sat out Sunday's loss to No. 6 Michigan State, came off the bench to score 15 points, hitting 5 of 8 from 3-point range, while Smith tallied 12 points on four 3-pointers.

Lewis Jackson added 13 points and five assists and Terone Johnson chipped in 11 points and five rebounds for Purdue, which led 47-30 at halftime and by as many as 23 in the second half.

Bo Spencer scored 19 points for Nebraska (12-14, 4-11 Big Ten), which shot 51.9 percent.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hummel had seven rebounds and has 804 in his career. Hummel has topped the 24-point mark in three of his last four games. ... Purdue, which leads the nation in fewest turnovers per game (8.6), had seven against Nebraska, and is averaging less than six over its last seven games. ... The senior class of Hummel, Smith and Jackson have compiled 100 wins in their Boilermaker careers.
