ARIZONA 76, WASHINGTON STATE 72: Jesse Perry’s tie-breaking three-point play with 38.8 seconds left helped Arizona stretch its winning streak to five games while fighting off host Washington State in Pac-12 play.

Brendon Lavender scored 17 points and hit five 3-pointers, and Kyle Fogg had 16 points and 10 rebounds as the Wildcats (19-8, 10-4) remain in contention for the regular-season conference crown.

Brock Motum scored 28 points and Reggie Moore scored a season-high 21 points for Washington State (13-13, 5-9), which lost for just the second time in 10 games at Beasley Coliseum this season.

Perry had 14 points, including the 3-point play that gave Arizona a 72-69 lead. Motum was fouled while shooting a 3-pointer with 21 seconds left but missed two of three free throws. When Motum made the third one, it snapped a personal streak of six straight misses for the Washington State star.

Fogg and Lavender added two free throws apiece in the final 19.6 seconds for the Wildcats.

Solomon Hill added 11 points for Arizona.

The Wildcats led 52-49 with 12:16 remaining after a 3-pointer by Lavender. The Cougars responded with eight consecutive points, capped by a 3-pointer by Moore to take a five-point lead with 10:42 to play.

The Wildcats rattled off the next nine points with Hill’s basket giving Arizona a 61-57 advantage with 8:34 to play. Washington State caught the Cougars at 65-65 on Motum’s 3-pointer with 4:57 left.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Motum has scored 20 or more points in five of the last six games and nine times overall. … Lavender is 9 of 12 from 3-point range over the past two games and leads the Pac-12 in 3-point percentage at 53.3. … Fogg’s 10 rebounds are a new career high. … Cougars guard Marcus Capers played in his 124th career game, three shy of the school record set by George Hamilton, who finished his career in 1949.
