Tennessee once again rallied in the second half to down in-state rival Vanderbilt, coming back from 11 points down Tuesday in Nashville to upend the 18th-ranked Commodores, 60-51.

Scotty Hopson’s 19 points led the Volunteers (17-11, 7-6 SEC), who came back from 17 points down to beat the Commodores 67-64 on Jan. 15 in Knoxville. Festus Ezeli and John Jenkins each scored 11 points to pace Vanderbilt (20-7, 8-5 SEC), which did not score in the final 5:02 and saw its five-game winning streak end.

The Commodores led 42-31 on Ezeli’s dunk with 13:07 left, but the Volunteers rallied to tie the game at 51-51 on two Hopson free throws with 2:52 to play. Hopson then gave the Volunteers a 53-51 lead with two free throws with 1:57 remaining. Two more Hopson free throws pushed the lead to 55-51 with 1:14 left, and Tobias Harris hit two free throws with 44 seconds left to make it 57-51.

Tennessee, which started 3 of 9 from the free-throw line, finished 14 of 21.

The Commodores, second in the SEC in scoring at 77.6 points, shot just 38.6 percent and was outscored 29-9 in the final 13 minutes.

Tennessee plays host to Mississippi State on Saturday. Vanderbilt travels Saturday to LSU.
