Spurs 110, Heat 95: Tim Duncan scored 21 points on 9-of-10 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds and Danny Green scored 11 of his 13 points in the fourth quarter as host San Antonio defeated Miami to win the opening game of the NBA Finals.

Tony Parker had 19 points and eight assists and Manu Ginobili contributed 16 points and 11 assists for the Spurs, who were 14-of-16 shooting and 6-of-6 from 3-point range in a 36-point final quarter. San Antonio closed the game with a 31-9 run and shot 58.8 percent from the field, including 13-of-25 from 3-point range.

LeBron James scored 25 points for the Heat but missed most of the last 7 1/2 minutes due to cramping and dehydration issues inside the muggy facility. Dwyane Wade scored 19 points, Chris Bosh had 18 and Ray Allen added 16 for Miami, which will attempt to tie the series Sunday.

Six straight points by Bosh – including a four-point play with 9:37 left – gave Miami a seven-point lead early in the fourth quarter before Green made consecutive 3-pointers to cap a 11-2 run that gave the Spurs a 90-88 lead. James departed for good with 3:59 left after scoring to cut the Heat’s deficit to 94-92 and Green drained a 3-pointer 20 seconds later to start a 16-3 game-ending burst.

Duncan had 15 first-half points on 6-of-7 shooting as the Spurs took a 54-49 lead into the break. San Antonio increased the margin to nine early in the third quarter before Miami used a late 8-0 surge to take a six-point edge en route to a 78-74 advantage into the final stanza.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
The Spurs announced that the air conditioning system at AT&T Arena malfunctioned due to an electrical issue and the temperature inside the arena was reported to be as high as 90 degrees during the second half. … James had three assists to raise his career postseason total to 1,002, joining Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant as the only players with at least 4,000 points and 1,000 assists in the postseason. … The Spurs overcame 23 turnovers – leading to 28 Miami points – but posted a 39-29 rebounding advantage.
