Coby White capped a career-best scoring effort with game-tying and go-ahead hoops in the final 1:32 Monday night, completing a huge Chicago Bulls comeback that produced a 113-109 victory over the host Sacramento Kings.
After squandering all of an early 14-point lead, the Kings appeared to take command with a 33-point flurry over an eight-minute, third-quarter stretch that gave them a 91-70 advantage. Domantas Sabonis had four dunks, three assisted by De'Aaron Fox, in a three-minute spree in the heart of the uprising.
Seeking a win in the opener of a four-game Western swing, the Bulls spent the next 13 minutes chipping away at the deficit, finally drawing even at 109-all on a White layup with 1:32 to go.
After a Kings turnover, White misfired on a 3-point attempt, but Nikola Vucevic retrieved the offensive rebound and found White for a short jumper that gave the visitors the lead for good with 47.6 seconds remaining.
Fox had a chance to grab back the lead for the Kings, but couldn't connect on a 3-point attempt with 38 seconds left. After Sacramento retained possession when the rebound went out of bounds, Fox turned the ball over with a bad pass, setting up two DeMar DeRozan clinching free throws with 3.5 seconds to go.
White finished with 37 points, bettering by one his previous career-high total established in a visit to Sacramento in January 2021. He shot 14-for-19 overall and 5-for-9 from 3-point range.
DeRozan had White's back with 33 points, while Ayo Dosunmu chipped in with 20 points and Vucevic had 10 points to complement a team-high 13 rebounds. Alex Caruso tied White for team-high assist honors with seven to go with four steals.
Sabonis snatched a game-high 21 rebounds to complete his nightly double-double with 18 points for the Kings, who lost for the third time in their past four games.
Returning from a two-game absence caused by knee soreness, Fox paced Sacramento with 20 points and a game-high 10 assists. Kevin Huerter added 12 points, Keegan Murray and Malik Monk 11 apiece and Harrison Barnes 10.
The Kings lost despite outrebounding the visitors 51-32.
