Tyler Herro was just shy of a triple-double with 24 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists as the host Miami Heat snapped a four-game losing streak with a 121-114 win over the Washington Wizards on Friday night.
Jimmy Butler added 20 points, and Bam Adebayo and Duncan Robinson had 18 apiece as Miami ended its longest losing skid since February.
Herro made 9 of 17 shots, including 4 of 7 3-pointers.
This was both teams' first game of the NBA's inaugural in-season tournament, which begins with pool play.
Washington, which has lost three straight games, was led by Kyle Kuzma's 22 points. Jordan Poole had 19 points and six assists, and Deni Avdija added 14 points.
The Wizards, who are 0-3 on the road, got starting center Daniel Gafford back from an ankle injury. He had four points and five rebounds in 20 minutes.
But Wizards forward Corey Kispert, who suffered a sprained ankle on Wednesday, missed the game.
Miami was without two players: Caleb Martin (sprained left knee) and Kevin Love (bruised left shoulder).
The teams were tied 34-34 at the end of the first quarter, but Miami led 60-54 at halftime, thanks in part to a 24-12 advantage in bench points. Robinson had 10 points in the half on 4-of-5 shooting, including two triples.
Herro was dynamic in the first half with 12 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.
Both teams shot the ball well in the first half, especially Miami -- 60 percent from the floor and 6-of-11 on 3-pointers. Washington shot 56.4 percent from the floor, including 7-of-14 from deep.
Miami stretched its lead to 22 points in the third quarter before settling for a 101-81 advantage heading into the fourth.
After Josh Richardson gave the Heat their largest lead of the night with a 3-pointer at 6:38 to play, Washington put together a 15-0 run, cutting its deficit to 115-105 with four minutes left. But the Heat held on from there.
