Timberwolves 102, Heat 101: Kevin Martin scored a game-high 30 points - including the go-ahead jumper with 41 seconds remaining - as Minnesota rallied to down visiting Miami.

Thaddeus Young added 16 points and five steals for the Timberwolves, who erased a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter. Nikola Pekovic and Gorgui Dieng tallied 13 points apiece while Mo Williams recorded 10 points and 10 assists for Minnesota, which shot 51.4 percent.

Hassan Whiteside hit his first 11 shots en route to a career-high 24 points and pulled down 20 rebounds for the Heat, who have dropped four of their last five. Luol Deng scored 18 points and Norris Cole had 15 off the bench while Chris Bosh was limited to 14 on 5-of-14 shooting.

Cole drained a 3-pointer as the Heat pulled ahead 88-78 before Martin and Williams each connected from beyond the arc during a 12-2 run to even the score at 90 with 6:33 remaining. Martin's late heroics put the Timberwolves ahead 102-101 before Mario Chalmers and Cole each missed chances to win it for Miami.

The Heat shot 61.1 percent in the first quarter but still trailed 27-24 and found themselves down by nine before Deng scored six points as part of a 13-4 run to tie the game at 44. The Timberwolves were up 53-51 at intermission before Deng buried a 3-pointer to give Miami its biggest lead of the game at 76-66 and the Heat settled for a seven-point advantage heading into the fourth quarter.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Timberwolves beat the Heat at the Target Center for the first time since Jan. 8, 2008. … Minnesota PG Ricky Rubio dished out nine assists in his second game back after missing the previous 42 with an ankle injury. ... Whiteside is the first player in the NBA this season to start out 11-of-11 from the floor.
