Washington had to stave off several Atlanta rallies in the final stanza but never surrendered the lead. The Hawks twice pulled within two in the period, getting to 99-97 after Teague's three-point play with 39 seconds left, but Teague missed a potential tying shot on a drive to the basket and Gooden hit a pair of free throws to seal it.
The Hawks led by nine after Millsap's 3-pointer with eight minutes left in the third quarter, but they managed only one more field goal in the period. Atlanta missed its last six field-goal attempts as the Wizards closed the quarter with an 11-2 run to take a 75-71 advantage into the fourth.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Carroll came down with a stomach virus and was hospitalized to receive IV fluids Friday night. … The Hawks used their 22nd different lineup of the season. … Wizards G Andre Miller was called for a flagrant-1 foul on Dennis Schroder after giving up a steal to Schroder with just under 10 minutes left in the game.
