Wizards 102, Knicks 101: Martell Webster scored 30 points on 9-of-13 shooting and Bradley Beal returned to put up 21 points - including the tying and winning shots - as visiting Washington endured a wild fourth quarter.
John Wall scored 19 of his 20 points in the first half and finished with eight assists and seven turnovers for the Wizards, who snapped a four-game losing streak overall and a 10-game skid at Madison Square Garden. Trevor Ariza added 10 points for Washington.
Carmelo Anthony scored 32 points on 12-of-20 shooting but missed an off-balance 3-pointer at the buzzer after New York elected not to use one of its three timeouts to set up a play for the final shot. J.R. Smith bounced back from consecutive poor outings to tally 18 points and six assists and Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 14 off the bench.
New York led by as many as seven in the third quarter but didn't have an answer for Webster, who scored Washington's last six points of the third quarter to trim it to 77-75 entering the final stanza. Beal's mid-range jumper put the Wizards up 92-85 with 5:52 remaining before the Knicks reeled off a 13-2 run, but Beal scored Washington's final eight points, including a driving bucket with 6.9 seconds left for the win.
The Wizards led 53-42 at the break after holding the Knicks to 31.9 percent shooting and getting 19 points from Wall, and they stretched the lead to 15 early in the third. New York used a 12-0 run to close the gap and took a 69-66 lead on Iman Shumpert's 3-pointer with 2:31 left in the quarter.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Beal was playing for the first time since Nov. 23 because of a stress injury in his right fibula. … Washington F Nene (foot) missed his fourth straight game, but the Wizards snapped an eight-game losing streak when playing without him. … Knicks PG Pablo Prigioni left with a hairline fracture in his right toe and is expected to miss at least two weeks. New York already was without PG Raymond Felton (hamstring).
