Warriors 125, Lakers 94:
Klay Thompson scored a career-high 38 points on 15-of-19 shooting despite sitting out the entire final quarter as host Golden State opened its campaign by dominating Los Angeles.

David Lee added 24 points and eight rebounds and Stephen Curry delivered 10 points and six assists for the Warriors, who went 15-for-27 from 3-point range. Thompson led the long-range barrage by knocking down 5-of-7 while Curry, who set an NBA record with 272 made 3-pointers last season, added a pair.

Jodie Meeks scored 14 points and Pau Gasol had 12 for as the Lakers suffered their first loss after taking their season-opener on Tuesday over the Los Angeles Clippers. The Lakers got 52 points from the bench after that unit went for 76 on Tuesday, led by Xavier Henry's 14.

The excitement of the opening win wore off immediately for Los Angeles as Golden State took control in the first minute and never trailed. Thompson’s fourth 3-pointer of the first quarter made it 26-14 and Curry’s shot from beyond the arc midway through the second pushed the lead to 44-25.

Curry and Thompson hooked up for the highlight of the half later in the second quarter when Curry pulled down a defensive rebound and fired a 60-foot pass on the right wing to Thompson, who rose up and buried the transition 3-pointer before the Warriors settled for a 59-40 lead at the break.

Curry and Andre Iguodala had five points apiece during a 14-4 burst in the third quarter that stretched the lead to 27 points, and Draymond Green’s 3-pointer with 3:32 left in the period pushed it to 30 for the first time.

Golden State pulled its entire starting five with a 33-point lead before the fourth quarter and the advantage swelled to 115-80 late in the final period before the Warriors coasted to the finish.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Lakers G Steve Nash (neck/ankle) was held out to rest on the second night of the back-to-back. … Warriors F Harrison Barnes (foot) missed the game and will likely sit out Thursday as well. … Iguodala collected seven points, four rebounds and four assists in his Golden State debut.
