Suns 113, Celtics 88: Jeff Green scored a season-high 31 points on 11-of-14 shooting in place of Kevin Garnett and Boston ended its two-game losing skid with a dominant win over host Phoenix.
Green started in place of the 36-year-old Garnett, who was rested by coach Doc Rivers and sat out the game. Chris Wilcox scored 14 points and Jason Terry and Avery Bradley added 13 apiece for the Celtics. Newly acquired Jordan Crawford had 10 points in 17 minutes off the bench.
Goran Dragic had 19 points and 10 assists to lead the Suns, who fell behind 13-0 to open the game and trailed 53-41 at the half. Markieff Morris had 11 points and Marcin Gortat chipped in 10 for Phoenix, which has lost six of its last seven games.
After starting its five-game road trip with two straight losses, Boston shot 55.7 percent and outrebounded the Suns by five despite going with a small lineup. The Celtics led by as many as 30 in the fourth quarter.
Paul Pierce had a quiet eight points in 26 minutes for Boston, which recorded its first road win this season against a Western Conference opponent. The Celtics swept the season series against Phoenix and improved to 9-17 on the road.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Suns F Michael Beasley was upset after a substitution in the fourth quarter and walked straight to the locker room and past interim coach Lindsey Hunter. … The Celtics led by 30 points for the first time on the road this season when they moved ahead 106-76 with five minutes left in the fourth quarter. … Garnett is expected to return when the Celtics visit Portland on Sunday.
