GRIZZLIES 93, TRAIL BLAZERS 89: Rudy Gay scored 21 points and Marreese Speights had 13 points and 11 rebounds as host Memphis survived Portland to move a half-game behind the Los Angeles Clippers for fourth-place in the Western Conference.

The Clippers (39-24) have the tiebreaker over the Grizzlies (39-25), who finish with Cleveland on Monday and Orlando on Thursday. Memphis is just one game behind the third-place Lakers.

Memphis led throughout the second half, but the Trail Blazers used a 10-0 run to get to 91-89 on a layup by Wesley Matthews with 32 seconds remaining. Gay block Matthews’ 3-pointer and O.J. Mayo sealed the game with two free throws.

Mayo had 14 points and Marc Gasol and Dante Cunningham had 10 apiece for the Grizzlies.

J.J. Hickson had 23 points and 13 rebounds for the Blazers (28-36), who had just nine healthy players.

Jamal Crawford had 21 points and the NBA free-throw leader was 9 for 10. He is 191 for 205 (93.2 percent).

Matthews had 16 points and seven rebounds.

Portland led early but Mayo’s layup gave Memphis a 28-27 lead. The Grizzlies finished the first half on a 26-18 run.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Portland starters Raymond Felton and Joel Przybilla did not travel with the team to Memphis. Felton is attending his uncle's funeral in South Carolina and Przybilla is recovering from bronchitis. Both could play Sunday at San Antonio. … Portland’s Hasheem Thabeet had a season-high eight rebounds. … Neither team shot well from 3-point range. Memphis was 4 for 16 and Portland was 4 for 15.
