Tim Duncan had 19 points and set season highs with 17 rebounds and five blocks to lead the San Antonio Spurs to an 89-84 victory over the host Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.

Tony Parker had 21 points and seven assists and Tiago Splitter scored 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting for San Antonio, which has won a season-best five straight games.

Marc Gasol had 22 points and nine rebounds, Mike Conley had 19 points and eight assists and Rudy Gay scored 18 points for Memphis, which has lost three straight.

Duncan had nine points and seven rebounds in the final quarter as San Antonio rallied to win the opener of its nine-game road trip.

The Spurs trailed 73-67 entering the quarter but scored nine consecutive points at the outset and took the lead on James Anderson’s 3-pointer with 7:22 remaining.

Duncan’s dunk gave San Antonio an 87-81 lead with 1:18 to play. Conley got Memphis back within three with a 3-pointer eight seconds later but Gay missed a game-tying 3-point attempt with 8.9 seconds left.

The Grizzlies were only 5 for 25 from the field in the final quarter and shot 37.3 percent overall.

San Antonio led by as many as 14 points in the first half en route to a 52-46 halftime lead.
