Dwyane Wade scored 30 points and the Miami Heat notched the first victory of the LeBron James era by dispatching the host Philadelphia 76ers, 97-87, on Wednesday night.

Reserve James Jones scored 20 points with a career-high six 3-pointers to help the Heat bounce back from Tuesday’s season-opening loss in Boston and hand the 76ers a setback in Doug Collins’ first game as coach.

James had 16 points and seven assists as Miami was a much more cohesive unit in its second game. Fellow superstar newcomer Chris Bosh had 15 points and seven rebounds.

Miami led by eight at halftime before taking control by outscoring Philadelphia 31-13 in the third quarter to take an 80-54 lead entering the final period.

No. 2 overall pick Evan Turner scored 16 points off the bench for Philadelphia in his NBA debut. Fellow reserves Thaddeus Young and Lou Williams added 15 points apiece.

James committed nine turnovers for a two-game total of 17.
