Max Fried tossed a four-hit shutout and the visiting Atlanta Braves defeated the Baltimore Orioles 3-0 on Friday night for their season-best seventh straight win.

It was the first career complete-game shutout for Fried (11-7). He struck out four batters without a walk, while throwing 90 pitches. Trey Mancini's double was the only extra-base hit for the Orioles.

Fried has won his last four starts after losing two in a row to end the month of July.

Travis d'Arnaud, who agreed to a two-year contract extension on Thursday, smacked a two-run homer for the Braves, who have won 14 of 16 to take the lead in the NL East. He added a single and also reached on a walk.

Mancini had two hits for the Orioles, who dropped their 16th straight game. The longest losing streak in Baltimore history was the 21 straight losses that opened the 1988 season.

Jorge Mateo of the Orioles extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a fifth-inning single.

Orioles starter Keegan Akin (0-8) allowed three runs on five hits in five-plus innings. He walked three and struck out three while throwing 101 pitches.

Baltimore relievers tossed four scoreless innings as the Orioles held an opponent to fewer than five runs for the first time in 16 games.

Dansby Swanson led off the second inning with a single and d'Arnaud homered to left-center on a 1-0 fastball. It was his fourth of the season and second in six games since he returned from missing three months with a thumb injury.

Jorge Soler made it 3-0 in the third when he connected with a 2-2 changeup for his 17th homer of the season.

The first two Braves, Swanson and d'Arnaud, reached base against Akin in the sixth, but reliever Dillon Tate came in to record three straight outs and keep the Orioles within striking distance.
