C.J. Cron hit a walk-off, solo homer in the ninth inning, and the Colorado Rockies beat the San Diego Padres 6-5 in Denver on Monday night.

Cron finished with two hits, Connor Joe homered among his two hits and Charlie Blackmon also went deep for Colorado.

Trent Grisham homered and Manny Machado, Jake Cronenworth and Wil Myers had two hits each for the Padres, who have lost five of their last six games -- with two coming on walk-offs.

San Diego trailed by three entering the ninth but tied it off Daniel Bard (6-5). Cronenworth and Austin Nola led off with infield singles and with two outs, Grisham homered to left, his 13th, to make it 5-5.

Cron then hit his 20th homer of the season off Daniel Hudson (4-2) with one out.

Joe, who turned 29 on Monday, led off the bottom of the first with his seventh home run of the season to give Colorado a quick lead.

San Diego answered in the second inning with the help of the Rockies. Cronenworth legged out a double to lead off the inning and moved to third on a groundout. Colorado starter Antonio Senzatela struck out Eric Hosmer but his slider bounced in front of the plate and by catcher Elias Diaz, allowing Cronenworth to score.

The Rockies took the lead again with a big third inning against Ryan Weathers. Joe and Brendan Rodgers stroked one-out singles before Trevor Story doubled down the third base line to bring home both and put the Rockies up 3-1.

Blackmon followed with a home run to dead center, his eighth of the season, to make it 5-1.

The Rockies had at least one baserunner in each of the first four innings against Weathers, who allowed five runs on eight hits before being relieved to start the fifth inning. He struck out three without a walk.

The Padres got one back in the sixth. Fernando Tatis Jr. doubled off the wall in right-center with one out and scored on Machado's two-out single.
