Kris Bryant homered in his debut and Darin Ruf had three RBIs to pace the host San Francisco Giants to a 5-3 victory over the Houston Astros on Sunday.

The win was the second straight for the Giants after a series-opening loss to the Astros. They also won two of three against the Los Angeles Dodgers earlier in the week.

With Bryant joining the lineup for the first time, the Giants rallied from a 2-0 deficit with three runs in the third inning and two more in the fifth. Ruf had a hand in both uprisings.

Acquired at the trade deadline from the Chicago Cubs, Bryant struck out in his first at-bat against Astros starter Luis Garcia (7-6). He enjoyed better fortune in the third after clearing the left-field fence for a solo homer.

The homer was Bryant's 19th of the season.

After a Mike Yastrzemski ground-rule double and a Buster Posey walk, Brandon Crawford and Ruf connected on back-to-back RBI singles, giving the Giants the lead for good at 3-2.

Ruf's homer, his 12th of the season, came in the fifth inning -- again with two outs and again following a Crawford single.

Giants right-hander Logan Webb (5-3) bounced back from a two-run first inning to get the win. He allowed those two runs on seven hits with three strikeouts in six innings.

Closer Jake McGee pitched a clean ninth for his 23rd save of the season.

Houston's scoring came on a two-run homer by Yuli Gurriel in the first inning and a double-play grounder off the bat of Kyle Tucker in the eighth. Yordan Alvarez had doubled and Gurriel singled to open the eighth inning.

Ruf also doubled for the Giants, giving him the sixth three-hit game of his career. Donovan Solano joined Crawford with two hits.

Bryant, who went 1-for-4, grounded out and flied out in his final two at-bats.

Gurriel had three hits and Chas McCormick two for the Astros, who fell to 3-3 on their eight-game road trip. They'll head to Los Angeles to face the Dodgers.

Garcia went just 4 2/3 innings, charged with five runs on eight hits. He walked two and struck out seven.
