Gleyber Torres hit a tie-breaking, two-out RBI single to cap a four-run eighth inning and help the visiting New York Yankees rally past the rival Boston Red Sox for a 4-3 victory on Saturday afternoon.

Torres' bloop single to right field against Red Sox reliever Adam Ottavino (2-3) scored Rougned Odor from second base for the go-ahead run. Odor hit a two-run double in the previous at-bat to tie the game at 3.

Brett Gardner went 2-for-4 and opened the Yankees' scoring in the eighth with a two-out RBI single off Boston starter Nathan Eovaldi, who allowed two runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts over 7 2/3 innings against his former team.

New York had four consecutive two-out hits and five of their 10 total hits in the eighth.

Yankees starter Jameson Taillon (6-4) earned the win after allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits over seven innings with three walks and four strikeouts.

New York won for the third time in five games against the Red Sox after dropping their first seven meetings against them this season. Boston prevailed 5-4 in 10 innings in the series opener Thursday and won 6-2 on Friday.

Kevin Plawecki and Rafael Devers each had an RBI for the Red Sox, who had their four-game winning streak snapped.

Boston's Kike Hernandez tripled off the wall in center field to lead off the home first and was awarded home plate after Yankees second baseman Odor's relay throw to third sailed out of play.

Plawecki hit an RBI double in the second and Devers added a sacrifice fly in the third to give Boston a 3-0 lead.

Boston threatened in the ninth with runners on second and third with two outs, but Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman struck out Hernandez to collect his 18th save.

New York's DJ LeMahieu finished 1-for-5 to extend his major league-leading on-base streak to 34 games.
